In any other year I would say that winter is the best time to visit Vancouver, Canada and 2010 will be even better when it hosts the winter Olympic games in February and the Paralympics in March. It feels like winter almost all year round so be prepared for that, it’s definitely the place to be for people who love the snow and cold weather that comes with it. So whether you’re visiting for the Olympics or any other time you will need some way of getting around to visit the sites, and car rental Vancouver is a good choice for anyone who doesn’t like to rely on public transport.
Some of the main attractions apart from the snow sports will be ice hockey held at GM Place and University of British Columbia, skating at Pacific Coliseum, speedskating at Richmond Oval, and curling at Hillcrest/Nat Bailey Stadium Park. Most of these locations will be new constructions or getting major upgrades for the 2010 Winter Olympics. But of course it wouldn’t be winter without the skiing, snowboarding, bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton events held at various mountains and locations around Vancouver and Whistler.
As you can see there will be plenty of events to see, and they are all spread out over a large area, so you are going to need some form of reliable transport to make sure you get to each event on time. There will be some public transport available but if that isn’t your idea of a good time then Vancouver car rental may be what you need.
