The license plate of Vancouver cars doesn’t say Beautiful British Columbia for nothing. Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Home to the Expo World Fair of 1986 and the upcoming 2010 winter Olympics, Vancouver is more than just beautiful; it’s a world class vacation destination.
The most convenient way to see the sights in Vancouver is by renting a car. You can pick your car up at Vancouver International Airport when you arrive and you can see many of Vancouver’s most beautiful sites on your way to your hotel. If you’ve booked a room at one of Vancouver’s stunning downtown hotels, you will view several attractions on the way. As you drive downtown, you will pass Queen Elizabeth Park, a quiet get away with a gorgeous botanical garden, quaint ponds, beautiful gardens, bike and walking trails and several tennis courts. Keep driving north over one of three bridges that take you downtown and you will see the downtown framed by the water of Burrard inlet. The ocean view coupled with the backdrop of mountains will demand that you pull over to take a picture.
Vancouver is home to two world class mountains. If you visit before the Olympics you’ll have a sneak preview of Whistler mountain where the ski competitions will take place. If you drive in the opposite direction going south past the airport, you’ll find Stevenson Village, an amazing get away on the water front where you can enjoy great restaurants, buy fresh fish or purchase gifts in the many unique gift shops the village has to offer.
