Exploring The Arts And Culture Scene In Vancouver

Filed under: Car Rental Vancouver - 09 Jan 2010  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

Thanks to an act made in 1986 which involved over 300 performance and arts groups, Vancouver now has a thriving arts scene. It is a great place to watch a star studded performance, or even witness a small and intimate theatrical performance. With something going on every night of the week the only problem you will have is deciding which one to go and see!

If you really are a theatre buff, then you may want to time your vacation around the annual fringe festival, where people from all over the country come to showcase their talents. It is usually held September-time. Also in September is the annual film festival, where over 300 up and coming films are viewed and judged over a four day period.

Major theatre companies include The Arts Club Theatre Company, The Vancouver Playhouse company and Bard on The Beach, they all put on productions throughout the year so check listings for more details.

If you are into Dance, then the Scotiabank dance group has many contemporary and modern dance productions. And if you love classical dance then Ballet BC is Vancouver’s most reputable company for that genre.

Spending your vacation viewing plays and films may not sound like hard work, but travelling around can be – if you don’t have you own hire car that is. Now it is simple an easy to arrange a rental car for your trip, you can even pick it up from the airport of a downtown location if you prefer. Have a great trip!

Car Rental For The Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics

Filed under: Car Rental Vancouver - 09 Jan 2010  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

In any other year I would say that winter is the best time to visit Vancouver, Canada and 2010 will be even better when it hosts the winter Olympic games in February and the Paralympics in March. It feels like winter almost all year round so be prepared for that, it’s definitely the place to be for people who love the snow and cold weather that comes with it. So whether you’re visiting for the Olympics or any other time you will need some way of getting around to visit the sites, and car rental Vancouver is a good choice for anyone who doesn’t like to rely on public transport.

Some of the main attractions apart from the snow sports will be ice hockey held at GM Place and University of British Columbia, skating at Pacific Coliseum, speedskating at Richmond Oval, and curling at Hillcrest/Nat Bailey Stadium Park. Most of these locations will be new constructions or getting major upgrades for the 2010 Winter Olympics. But of course it wouldn’t be winter without the skiing, snowboarding, bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton events held at various mountains and locations around Vancouver and Whistler.

As you can see there will be plenty of events to see, and they are all spread out over a large area, so you are going to need some form of reliable transport to make sure you get to each event on time. There will be some public transport available but if that isn’t your idea of a good time then Vancouver car rental may be what you need.

If you are planning a trip to go see the wonderful beauties and many great attractions in Canada, you might want to think of a trip to Vancouver. Vancouver is a great city in Canada that brings a lot of things together for not a lot of money. If you are looking for a great vacation that you can just walk the streets to get anything you want, then Vancouver is the city for you. There are so many things you can do, here is a small list of activities that you can do while you enjoy your stay in Vancouver.

Walking the streets to do a bit of window shopping is free as long as you don’t buy anything. Who goes window shopping and doesn’t get anything? Some people can do this but it is better if you purchase something because you have to prove you were in Canada. You have to get something to show your friends when you get back home.

Besides the shopping that you can do in Vancouver, you can also try the great cuisine that Vancouver offers to all the people that live and travel there from day to day. Some restaurants will set up a little booth outside on the street to give the people who are shopping a little sample to try and get them to come into their eatery after a long hard day of shopping. This is great you get a shopping spree with food included.

Want a Drink in Vancouver?

Filed under: Car Rental Vancouver - 04 Sep 2009  | Spread the word !

Although alcohol can be a bad thing in excess, when it’s enjoyed responsibly, it can really add a lot of fun to any experience. This rule is not exception when it comes to trips. Whether you want to relax on a business trip after a long day of making deals with people, or you want to take your significant other out for a fun night during a vacation, I always enjoy going out and exploring the nightlife when I’m in a different city.

Since it can sometimes be challenging to find a good place to go in a city that you don’t really know, I thought I would save some of your valuable time and provide you with several recommendations of great places to get a drink while you are in Vancouver:

Uva Wine Bar: While some people are intimidated by wine (because there are so many different choices, and wine enthusiasts have a reputation as being snobby), a place likeUva Wine Bar is perfect for people who aren’t very familiar with wine (and just as enjoyable for those who are). If you don’t know what to order, the helpful staff atUva Wine Bar will help you select a great bottle for you and anyone else with you to enjoy.

Brickhouse Late Nite Bistro & Bar: In addition to always having cold beer ready to serve, the Brickhouse Late Nite Bistro & Bar is a very comfortable place to hang out thanks to the large couches that they have.

The Fringe Cafe: If you are looking for a place where you can sit down with a drink and chips and salsa to munch on, you’ll enjoy whatever amount of time you end up spending at The Fringe Cafe.
